Solution for Facebook wall posting problem. I was trying to post to my own wall and FB gave me this error: "The message could not be posted to this Wall."
If you get this error, you might want to log out and log back in. This seems to have fixed the problem for me at least once.
I tried updating my status and got a message that said something like it couldn't be done at this time - try again later.

I am having the same problem. It has been going on for about a month, and it doesn't let me post ANYTHING! I have logged out of FB and rebooted. Any thoughts... Please!
You could try removing your cookies (http://www.ehow.com/how_7435931_remove-cookies.html?ref=Track2&utm_source=ask) Does that mean you haven't been able to post to your own wall for a month? Do you own the wall that is refusing to accept your post?
Thanks for the advice Dave. I have removed all my cookies, browsing history, etc. I did try to reboot, close FB, restart.. no help. Any other ideas?
How about clear out your cache? If that doesn't work either, ask the owner of the wall if they accidentally blocked you.
I'm trying to post from onto my own wall.. Cleared everything out. Still nothin'
The next thing to try is to go into your Facebook account and change your email address. If you don't have an extra email address, just make one at yahoo or hotmail or gmail. You can keep it, and just use it for signing up to places that might send you spam, but which require an email.
Anyway, you might have more luck posting after validating the new email address (or, if it says you need to validate your current one, after doing that).
Jennifer- I am having the same problem here. I tried logging out of FB, clearing my cache, clearing cookies, then restarting my computer and it is still giving me this msg
"The message could not be posted to this Wall."
Mind you this is MY own wall. this happens when I try and "share" a status update that is on my wall. I can however, click on the link in that status- go to the website, copy the link and THEN post it on my wall and it will show up.
WTH? This is annoying.
Just to let you all know. One of my FB pages let us all know that THEY cannot post links either.
It has to be a FB thing. It is acting really screwy this morning.
I guess we have to be patient. (bahahahaaaa)
Just let me know if anyone tries updating their email address and finds that that works. The war between real people and spammers is raging, so I wouldn't be surprised if this problem is a symptom of FB's attempt to frustrate spammers.
Let's try this . It work for me

guys simple solution JUST CLOSE THE BOX IN STATUS UPDATE ie CLICK THE CROSS IN UPDATE STATUS BOX.
OK GUYS HERE'S WHY! I finally figured it out. I was trying to share a picture I posted on my wall to a fan page and getting the same response as you. I changed the post from privacy being "only friends" to "public", now I can share it onto my fan page. Simply click the top right button to make it public. bam!
I fixed our problem by shortening the title and the information in the description box.
Once you have the shortened information, you can add your own comment to put the information back in
How do i clear cache on face book.
It's the same as clearing your cache for any other website: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache
If you're trying to share on your page's wall, try this...Go to your page's setting and uncheck Always post on your page as your page...

On Jan 30, 007 said "If you're trying to share on your page's wall, try this...Go to your page's setting and uncheck Always post on your page as your page..." This WORKED for me! None of the other suggestions panned out. THANKS!!!
remove the link preview and post!!
To get pics from your profile to show up on your page:
You will need to do steps 1 thru 5 just once, and steps 6 on, you will need to do every time you want to post a photo from your profile to your page.
1) Use facebook as your page
2) Click the Edit Page drop down
3) Click on Manage Permissions
4) Click on Your Settings
5) Next to posting preferences, make sure the box is unchecked which states "always comment & post on yoru page as (insert your page name here), Click Save Changes.
6) Every time you want to share a pic from your profile to your page you have to be using facebook as yourself, not your business page.
7) Click on the photo you want to share so that you can edit it.
8) Click the Edit button on the right side of screen.
9) Underneath the date drop down box click on the drop down that will probably say private and change it to public.
10) click share under the photo and select the page you want to post it to.
11) This should successfully share the photo on your page!
Thanks, Gina!
Your post has given me some ideas. Your input is much appreciated and I'm sure it will help many.
Thank you Gina!!!
She's the only one who got it right.
Got a different solution. I posted from my Timeline page, not from my Home page.
Don't forget to check permissions!! Most folks post photos and videos with the default sharing settings to "Friends" or "Friends of Friends", which isn't enough for Pages. You have to set it to Public. I beat my head for a while before noticing this!
Ive been experiencing this for a while and In my case i wanted to share an event on MY OWN page and had the message could not be posted to wall. It was because when i created the event the 'share' setting was set to friends not public. Once you change this over it should work... At least it did with me. Good luck
